Home made mosquito trap!

Translations available

Materials Needed:

2000ml (2 liter) bottle
50 gram (brown?) sugar
1 gram yeast
Thermometer
Measure cup
Knife
Black paper

1. Cut the top of the bottle as shown

2. Put 200ml hot water in the bottle, stir with 50gram brown sugar. Put the sugar water in cold water to cool it down til 40C (temperature).

They use a bigger container with cold water - put the small cup that they use to make sugar water in that container and that stick is a thermometer because they want the sugar water to cool down to 40C (temperature).

3. After cooling down, put the sugar water in the bottle then add the yeast.
No need to mix the yeast with the sugar water. When yeast ferments, it creates carbon dioxide.

4. When you cut the bottle, dont throw the top part away because that’d be needed for step 4 - you see they put the top upside down to fit into the bottle.

Carbon dioxide will be released from where we drink the bottle so make sure to seal the edge.

5. Put black paper around the bottle since mosquitos like dark places and carbon dioxide. This mosquito trap will then start working.
Mosquitos fly around the corner, so the best place to place the trap is at some dark corner.

TIPS: Put the trap in some dark and humid place for 2 weeks, you’ll see the effect. You’ll have to replace the sugar water + yeast solution every 2 weeks.

DO NOT BLAME ME IF THE NEA SAYS YOU'RE BREEDING! AND DON'T GO POKING YOUR FINGER INTO THE TRAP TO FEED THE MOZZIES. NOT WITH THE DENGUE EPIDEMIC IN SINGAPORE!

Home bound!

WSSS bound! 28th June. 8am flight and I'll arrive Singapore hopefully around 2pm. Going to go right home, dump my stuff and go out for laksa.

This post sounds vaguely familiar, or have I been telling everyone around me what I'm going to do. This is getting stale! I'm also intending to get a new bodykit for the car back home. A Hartge front lip, and a M-Tech rear bumper. This should make the car look sportier, although it's not going to be going any faster. Haha. As a millionaire friend said, since it can't go fast, make it look good while it's going around slowly! Indeed indeed.

Got back my Final Report for INFO5991 today. Had an enlightening and encouraging talk with the lecturer. The results were very encouraging as well, with fair comments and excellent recommendations to help me further. This is what learning is all about. Unlike some other modules. Enough of that.

Then there's the shopping recently. I need a new USB stick. Lost mine during the semester. An SLS trip will be included during the 3 week break at home. So not going to miss the lack of night life, supper and heat here.

That's about all for now. Till next time.

gag

chlorine poisoning.

bleah.

the pool in my apartment is, well, generally clean of filth, but they don't change the water i suppose. just keep adding chlorine. it's a cesspool of chlorine. just had a swim. i think i'll smell of chlorine for the next 10 days, and if i keep swimming daily like i am supposed to, i'll so need loads and loads of deodourant! gag.

and so i had my sleep from 1130am till 230am. woken up by a sms. then i stayed online till 6. and then went for a swim. no wait that's not what i wanted to write about. it was the dream. i dreamt i met a sq pilot, who told me to go apply to be one. and he'll be my refree. is that a sign? haha. contemplating. will apply and see if they contact me when i'm back in sg. ngiak.

that aside,

so why do some people dislike being complimented, and some thrive on it? is it because they are jaded, cynical, with poor opinions of themselves that they find it hard to accept compliments? and i mean if you don't mean it don't say it. what if the person just says, "cool! thanks!" do you know how to respond then? or are you waiting for them to belittle themselves and try and be humble, going "oh no la, (proceed to degrade themselves)"..

say what you mean from the heart.. not what you think others want to hear...

and,

in the same vein as being sexist, are we guilty of being userist? we often refer to others as, that non-technical person, that non-business person.. do we degrade others on the basis that they don't have a particular expertise in a field that we do, or assume to have? some form of discrimination occurring there isn't it?

bump for the couz
